Cumulative Tasks

 

 will count towards 25% of final grade each marking period

 

 

 

You have been asked to enter a national competition about how people have overcome challenges using strength and courage. The intended audience for the finished mini-magazine is middle school students In order to win, you must create a portfolio that  includes the following:  

 

1.        A 5 paragraph interpretive essay which documents how protagonists in at least three of the texts that we’ve read in class have overcome challenges.

2.        A poem, song, or rap that explains how you overcame a personal challenge using strength and courage.

3.        An interview with a person who you know has experienced personal challenges (10 questions and answers minimum).

4.        An “About the Author” page modeled on those within our textbook . Include the following:  where you were born and raised, people who have inspired you to accomplish great things, and your achievements.

5.        Original cover, including a title that demonstrates the idea of strength and courage (without using the words strength and courage).

 

 

The judges will base their decision on the following two things:

 

 - your understanding of how individuals have used their courage and strength to face challenges in their lives 

 

-          the appearance of your final product.

 

Be sure to use your rubric to check the quality of your work.
